I have only stripped a few tin things and used aircraft stripper so when I decided to strip an O gauge AF 3116 I looked back at some early posts here. WOW I could not believe how quick and how good it came out. I used arm and hammer powder laundry mixed in boiling water for about five minutes. I might have left it in too long but couldn't believe the results.

I have used that method many times...for plastic just use HOT tap water...not boiling...another great product is LA's TOTALLY AWESOME multi purpose concentrated cleaner-degreaser available in dollar stores...works great on Lionel- Williams and others...average time to total strip, on Lionel PW F3 was overnight.....Joe
