First if all, I never owned a TIU so this may pertain to both.

On my grandson's layout there are two separate loops with a common ground and the ability to isolate one from the other.  There are four wires coming from the control system(s).

2 hots, one common, and one auxiliary

For the Lionel interface the setup works fine.  The MTH setup is not electrically connected to it in any way.  The interface for the Lionel control is disconnected and the MTH connected to the layout in it's place when required.

Using a Z-1000 brick, using the AUX with the common works fine for AUX purposes.  My question is with the MAIN output barrel jack.

Can I use the main output of the brick to Fixed 1 IN and then attach both the track one hot and the track two hot to the Fixed 1 OUT Hot?   In other words split the FIXED 1 OUT between two loops that are switched back and form with toggle switches between one double loop and two independent loops?

Thanks,

John

Legacy or TMCC and MTH DCS play nicely with each other, so there's no need to disconnect one system when you want to run the other. They can both be connected to each loop and powered on at the same time and do not typically interfere with each other.

Thanks Richie.

But do you know whether I can split the WTIU Fixed 1 Output to two different loops that are sometimes alternately connected together or separated?

Thanks,

Advice:

You can split a power source and power more than one TIU input from one power source. NEVER connect a TIU output in parallel with another output.

So, in your question- the WTIU has 4 channels. You can connect any number of inputs to a single power source. Each channel output should go to it's track but tracks should be isolated center rail joint between each other.

Again, ,say you have a pair of switches that makes a crossover between loops. A that joint between switches 1 joint center rail is insulated pin or equiv.

I repeat- when doing sharing- you can share channels at the INPUT of the WTIU- but outputs must be to individual track sections or loops and not shared between any 2 outputs.

Further, common (black posts) are able to be true common (connected together) either by wiring or your track plan and all outer rail of all tracks common.

Red post and center rail is where your isolation joints will be.
