I have a brand new 153ir and a brand new gateman. I have connected the 153ir to track power using the provided wires. I have connected the plug expand play cord with the pigtail adapter to the appropriate connectors on the 153ir. The red wire to the hot the black wire to the ground and the white wire to the NO (normally open). Before I installed everything I bench tested the connections and the gateman operated correctly when anything was passed by the sensor. Now the light comes on in the gatehouse but, gateman comes out only once after a train passes the first time after the power is applied to the track. I run a Legacy 990 remote. Power comes from a brand new GW-180. Just to check I disconnected and reconnected the wiring. However, I’m still getting the same results. When I power up the track and send a train down the line the gateman snaps in and out and will not appear again until I power down the track and power it up again. Any suggestions as to what I need to check will be greatly appreciated. We spent fours hours on this today without a positive outcome. Thank you.

RixTrack: Have you made adjustments to the timing of the 153ir?
RixTrack: Does this diagram correspond with your hookup? The white wire from the plug-and-play cable should not be involved when using the 153ir.

Thank you for your post.
Yes the diagram matches my connections. The very first time a train passes after power is applied it works. Then gateman appears not to be getting enough power to push out of the door. If I power down and power back up it works one time. This is a command/LionChief layout powered by a GW-180. I should add that the 153ir worked perfectly on a Banjo Signal and Station orders building.

RixTrack: Could you explain the power connections again? Please include information about the plug-play cable and track used for the plug in side. Also, what is the switch setting that you are using (Track/Aux Power)?

I put the pigtail adapter on the gateman. This converts the plug to three wires. One red, one black, and one white. The 153ir is connected to the fastrack by the connectors provided. The gateman is connected to the fastrack with the red going to hot, the black going to ground and the white to the NO. It works but, only once. Attempts at repeating the correct operation fail as there doesn’t seem to be enough power to push the door open. If I shut down the track power and then turn it back on, the gateman will work once.
RixTrack: I would try switching the red and black wires from the adapter cable to the ACC PWR and ACC GND connections on the 153ir. Just reverse them so that the red goes to ACC GND and the black goes to ACC PWR. I think that will fix your problem.

I’ll try that. Thank you.
