Williams Berkshire smoke unit upgrade

There is a topic on a Williams Berk smoke unit upgrade but has been closed. Looking for some guidance on how to add a MTH or Lionel fan driven smoke unit and how to wire it. I did add some pictures but if someone can reply with a drawing on where to put wires and part numbers for the upgrade. Any help would be great. I do have a couple PS1 but I mostly have PW Lionel that I repair.

The small board with the smoke unit, the light is getting power from that board would I need that for the light after the fact? Or where should I put those wires? Thanks

Maybe someone can answer this, what is that black box for? The light and the smoke unit gets its power from this board, I bought a K-Line fan driven smoke unit, so I took the shell off my K-line Big Boy to see how it was wired, and it's pretty straight forward. I like to use that board for power, so what is the black component used for?  And will I need it since the K-Line big boy doesn't have one?  Plus, if i take it off I can make everything fit. Did an Edit went to Williams parts and it's a voltage regulator board.
