My source is Don Heimburger's Gilbert Heritage Book. It is true the paint scheme and colors had to pass A.C.'s approval. The Rocket was not based on the Southern per most Gilbert sources. I do not recall for sure but I think Don Heimburger's statement came from a Maury Romer interview.

Bob Bubeck may have some information about this. Hopefully he will see this thread.

Well, at least the Southern used green (and white), plus a round Southern logo on the nose too, much like the Rocket decal on the nose of the Flyer ALCO. Something to ponder.
