People, scenes, and structures on my two layouts:

The Post Office and Pharmacy are on Railroad Avenue on my 10’-by-5’ layout – built from a kit by Bar Mills Models. The street is cobblestone.

The porters and baggage cart are at Phillips Station.

The barber shop and adjacent house on my 12’-by-8’ layout were built from kits 25 years ago.

Lots of different things going on this week, preparing for our Open House on Saturday……

The Command Control Mobile Missile Launcher set from the 2003 catalog came with a PullMor and magnetraction. When you add the sound car, it car barely pull all 5 cars on Lionel track and struggles on Atlas. My K-Line TMCC A5 is similar in speed and provides a “booster” to keep it from struggling. Though I never tested it myself, the subsequent review in CTT said the "drawbar pull was 7 ounces" (which is pretty anemic and explains everything).

Testing out a few engines before the Open House…..

My Legacy FAs moving freight on the home layout…..

Have a great and safe weekend, everyone!

Last weekend that I indicated on here that the scenery on my layout was finished. Then after I posted that, my son and I had a little ceremony to celebrate the driving of the Golden screw, which is the last screw we had to put in to get things wrapped up. I should add that we actually drove the golden spike over 20 years ago when the track was completed. In any case here are a few pictures of our little ceremony. The pictures were taken by my daughter. There is also a picture looking down Main Street that  shows the very last thing that was completed… my son 3-D printed a gorgeous Pepsi sign to install on the front of the now closed Mapleton market. It’s just another example of something that is often seen and seldom if ever modeled.

The layout was 27 years and five months in the making!

That’s it for this week. Enjoy !

Neal - Wow!  Congratulations on installing the "golden screw" to complete ( is a layout ever really completed?) your absolutely stunning layout!!  The Mapleton Market photo is phenomenal!!!

Running with the Trackers at the Great Scale Model Train Show a few weeks ago…below you will see we had a Lionel tinplate O 256e extravaganza with 4 club members bringing their 256e sets in 4 different liveries, and we ran them all at once.

Mine is the PRR Brunswick green one.

Fun!

Congratulations Neal!!!!

This layout has been a source of instruction and inspiration to me for years.  I remember attending one of my first NMRA Division 2 meetings in the mostly empty train room. That would have been 1998.

And here's a little blast from the past (c. 2005).  That's Steven on the left and Caroline in Neal's arms.

@PRRMiddleDivision, stunning modeling in so many respects, including that it reflects 25+ years of devotion.

Question: Was there a time when you redid or substantially remodeled any portion of the layout because you were dissatisfied or because you came up with a better mousetrap? Or was it essentially linear progress without substantial setbacks?

Again, thank you for presenting a Hall of Fame worthy layout for us to enjoy!
