Just found out the Hiawathas are out. I was disappointed to see the headlight. The top headlight is now showing it to be a mars light. And the lower headlight is what the engines had in later years. It was red and a mars light. I do like the pop off valve steam as many of you know the engines had only air horns, and I am glad to see that option is there to use the diesel horn only. Just wondering what all the comments are.

I believe the Hiawatha locomotives had whistles also.
As far as I know they did not, nor did the F7s
I actually have a listing from ALCO of many of the parts used and there is no reference to a steam whistle, only the type of air horn.
The new Hiawatha #4 from Lionel does have the mars light and headlight reversed. It also lacks the red lens for the mars light. Hopefully Lionel will offer a fix. They had it right in the catalog but it didn't come correctly on the finished model.
Well here's hoping something can be done. let alone the dealers that already have them in stock!!

Check out this thread on the new hiawatha, they are gorgeous! The pop off steam is cool and different than whistle smoke, which makes it fun.

Yes, the Mars light is the top light but I'm sure it can be fixed by switching the two plugs on a board inside the locomotive but I haven't attempted to open it yet. I'm going to wait to see what Lionel says first.

I've reached out to @Dave Olson on this. Hopefully he'll provide a solution.
Yes it will be nice to hear about a fix as time goes on.
