Tennis Court for Lead Figures

I needed a tennis court for our pre-war lead figures, so this is how I made it.  I hope you like it!

1.) Picked out matboard in the color we liked and cut to size (limited on space, so we fudged a bit on official dimensions)

2.) Used 1/16" graphic tape to mark the lines

3.) Cut plastic mesh material I bought at Joann Fabrics for the net (I have extra if anyone wants to attempt this project)

4.) Wove stiff wire into the top and bottom of the net

5.) Trimmed artist tape and folded over the top of the net

6.) I used two extra Dept 56 posts I had to hold up the fence

Now that’s a first for me, excellent job. Thanks for sharing.

Now you need to add a sound module of the players grunting as they hit the ball back and forth. Should be easy to capture from any video of a tennis match.

Who made the figures?  Very unusual and cool.  Any other photos of your layout?  I'm beginning to resurrect my long dormant pre-war display, very interested in what others have been doing.

What a hoot! The court is the perfect color. Where did you get the figures? I am familiar with LeddySlack reproductions, but those I have never seen.

They are pre-war painted lead figures by J. Hill Co. or johillco in England.  We think a couple of the figures were bought at an antique mall and a couple at the York Train Show.
