I picked up what I expected was a simple board that had been designed long enough ago that finding the documentation would be easy. (heheh, best laid plans...) It's a Horn/Bell board for a Lionel NW2. The image is below. I have scoured the forums and have not hit on the right combination of terms to see this one discussed in the past. No prime mover sounds and it may not even be digital recordings. It is small and that was the priority. Simple and cheap were bonuses. I was out of the hobby when these early sounds started to crop up, so I have nothing to disassemble as an example. All of the newer Railsounds stuff seems to be well documented. I think this is a holdover from the "Convectional Classics" electronics. If you can point me to anything from a schematic to a discussion with a description of the pin outs it would be greatly appreciated. There are three connectors. I presume the 3-pin connector is a 10k pot for the volume. The 2-pin is a coin toss between power or a speaker. I'd hate to get that one wrong. That leaves the 6-pin connector as a grab bag for me. I do not even have a good place to start testing.
If I missed anything obvious on the board or in the forums feel free to call me out! This switcher has been mute since it was issued in the mid 70's. It got a new electronic reversing unit and directional LED lighting recently and I am on to the next challenge now that there is a little more real estate inside.
Thanks!
