I am thinking about modeling a modern propane dealer on my layout for a short siding I have. I am aware of the Atlas/Walthers kit for the Fuel dealer (https://shop.atlasrr.com/p-278...ock-gas-oil-kit.aspx) but I am leaning toward something a little bit more modern. Does anyone sell horizontal propane tanks in O scale? What about module steel structure kits (like the HO and N scale Pikestuff brand kits)?

Has anyone modeled one on their layout? If so, please post pictures. Thanks!

Hi Ben,

Maybe you could get the tanks 3D printed. There's a lot of talented people on this Forum that can do it. Did you check the library of files in the 3D print section to see if someone else has already done a tank like you want? This way, you don't have to settle for something close, but can get the exact one(s) you want. Good luck.

Plastruct has a few LP tank kits including KIT-3019 which includes two tanks.

Thanks, they look about right for what I want. Unfortunately, I cannot find anything regarding the dimensions or size of them on their site.

EDIT: per the Trainz website, here are dimensions: This is a Plastruct 3019 O Scale 5-3/4 x 19-1/2 x 5-1/4 Twin LP Horizontal Gas Storage Tanks Kit. These Twin horizontal LP Gas Storage Tanks are typically found throughout rural northern and central America in bulk fuel distributor and LP Gas retail outlets. LP Gas is commonly used for agricultural, industrial and residential heating as well as an up-and-coming vehicle fuel. Dimensions are approximate, and they and capacities vary dependent on scale. Height : 5-1/4, Length : 19-1/2, Width : 5-3/4.

Etsy has listed a seller with multi-scale 1000 gallon propane tanks.  Another thought is to leave the propane tank car set up for the dealer to not have an onsite storage tank,, but use the tank car with dedicated lines to it to pump from to load trucks.  The tank car holds around 30,000 gallons, and delivery trucks up to 6,000 gallons, tractor trailer size, up to 11,000 gallons.  So you would be emptying it fast and having it picked up and a new one delivered on a regular basis.  At least during winter,
