The '46 726 was unique.  It had a different motor orientation (horizontal in '46, mounted at an angle in '47 through '49 in the 726, '52 in the 726rr, and '50-'51 and '53-'68 in the 736), a large smoke bulb unit in '46 vs. standard postwar pellet unit in all others, no slot in the boiler for an e-unit lever in '46, etc.  There are other differences as well.

The boiler for a '46 will only fit a '46 chassis.  All other Berkshires can interchange their boilers and chassis.
