Is it possible to fit 46' 726 cab onto a 736 motor-chassis

Bob,
No, 1946 boiler casting is not the same and will not interchange with the 736 frame casting.
You would need to find a 47-49 726 to fit the 736 frame
John
OK Well then will a '46 726 cab fit a 47,48 726 chassis
No!! The 726 from 1946 is a casting that only fits the 1946 model !
Casting was changed in 1947 and will fit 1947 through 1949 726 and the 736 and Korean War model 726 RR

The '46 726 was unique. It had a different motor orientation (horizontal in '46, mounted at an angle in '47 through '49 in the 726, '52 in the 726rr, and '50-'51 and '53-'68 in the 736), a large smoke bulb unit in '46 vs. standard postwar pellet unit in all others, no slot in the boiler for an e-unit lever in '46, etc. There are other differences as well.
The boiler for a '46 will only fit a '46 chassis. All other Berkshires can interchange their boilers and chassis.
I see that John A replied while I was typing my long-winded response!
I see what you mean I love the stanchions on the 46 but I like the 47-49 chassis So I'll mull this around some more Thanks for all the info
