A friend of mine has a Sunset 3rd Rail Union Pacific 2-8-0 Cab #329. It's an older version, I think from the 1980's. It was retrofitted with ERR Cruise and Railsounds a couple years ago. We ran it just a few days ago, and everything was working as usual.
But today, he went to run it, the chuff no longer came up. Everything else works; whistle, bell, lights, speed control etc. So we are wondering if he is having an issue with the ERR sound commander.
He checked the magnet & reed switch, all seems fine. He even shorted out the pins on the board to simulate the reed switch, but still no chuff. Has anyone ever seen this kind of failure? Is there some magic set of commands to get it to look at the chuff?
Wonder if the input pin on the sound chip failed. We do see a voltage from a pullup on the chuff input, but it does not seem to see it in the chip to do the chuff when we ground it out.
It runs great with the ERR board, but with no chuffing sound.
