Hello, I'm trying to connect the 153IR to my Automatic Gateman and my Animated Maiden Rescue. The wiring seems simple and the lights come on but no action. I've two 153IR's and still nothing. With power to the 153IR if I put a multimeter in COM2 and COM1 its hot all the time. Nothing changes when I activate the 153IR. What am I overlooking?

There are several different versions of the 153IR using the same product number, and are wired differently. The wiring in one manual does not apply to all the versions. One way to tell which one you have is the number in the top right corner of the manual that came in the box. I have 6 153IR’s and there are differences in wiring and behavior. I managed to pair up 3 sets of 2 that match up together.
oh yeah, and on 2 of them the connections on the device were backwards from the manual that came included…..

Thanks for all the suggestions. Figured it out! I swapped the wires coming in from the transformer and swapped com1 and com2. Light stays on in Maiden Rescue and activates with infrared red! Yay!
