Hi all: I am about to take apart an old Z transformer and would like to know if anybody knows if there are any instructions on the internet. I see on you tube there are plenty of videos about the ZW but not a lot on the Z.
Best advice is to take lots of pictures. If you have to remove the core to replace the cord or bottom rollers, you have to unsolder a bunch of wires. Be sure to route the power cord away from moving parts (gears, shafts). Pry off knobs with two flat screwdrivers, the topplate with a small nutdriver, then two screws to split the case.
Theya re a bit of a pain to get apart if you plan on splitting the case to do the rollers. You need to carefully remove the knobs, then the name plate and then the screws the split the case. WHen you put it back together, you need to make sure you have the gear shafts located properly so everything lines up and the knobs are in the right location. It's not really bad but you can scratch up that face plate... They are a great transformer though!
