OK, I have both the 2245 and 2353. Unless I am really colour blind, the TEXAS SPECIAL has a lot more RED than the 2353 ATSF unit! What was Lionel thinking?

Yes, the Texas special was a different shade of red.

When the TX SP as streamliner was first run, the Katy used two shades of red. On for passenger, one for freight. That is why UP Katy 1988 Heritage has two diffent colours of red!
