I have more of the people like the skiers. From the '50's Greg

In response to Rnady's question, the classic Barclay figures from the 1950's are most certainly NOT 0 scale, they are way too big. Take a look at the picture below. The man in the back of the truck is a 1950's vintage Barclay figure that I found in a flea market and had to have. The man on the flatcar is a modern, scale figure. Clearly one is a "giant" compared to the other.
However, I love the Barclay figures from the 50's and use them on my layout and collect them when they can be found. If you place them carefully so that they are not right next to a scale figure they are ok. They give the layout the 1950's vintage look I am going for but those absolute "scale" modelers will not be happy.
Merry Christmas everyone.

Sorry, I should have put something by them for scale. As Don said, "Giants." Probably 2.5 to 2.75" tall, but also as he said, who cares when you are a kid and just trying to celebrate Christmas with trains. My father probably bought them at the dime store with the skaters and skiers.
I have had them since as long as I can remember, he always had them with the Plasticville train station. I just thought for those who had never seen them, I would post a picture. As far as for sale, probably flea markets, antique dealers, train shops and the great "bay."
Thanks for looking, Greg
@cngw - Greg, I agree with you completely. I love my Barclay figures and they are a part of the Christmas "lore" from my childhood as well. They are not so easy to find anymore, but like you I can remember when they were bought at dime stores as part of the usual Christmas decorations for the around the tree village. A summer or so ago, I was in an antique store with my wife and her sister and they were looking a vintage clothing. Lo and behold I spotted a Barclay "nurse" (my wife was an RN for over 40 years) so I had to have it. It now occupies a spot along with some other figures on one of my train shelves.
Best Wishes, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy New Year
