On my last post, I probably gave out more information than needed...I did not want to sound as a lionel basher.  My second SAL rs-11 came from another dealer...the first one was all that the other dealer had in stock.  This #101 SAL rs-11 is everything I had hoped for...this is why I buy the legacy engines.  The sounds and features are amazing...love those alcos!  Even the smoke unit works perfectly...cannot hear it at all and smokes great on the lowest setting. This could possibly be my favorite so far...I have an earlier tmcc NYC rs-11 that I have always wanted to have repainted to SRR's only rs-11 #11.  While I don't model the SAL, the colors are very nice...I just might have to try the SAL c-420s too.  To me, lionel hit a home run!  I am sure they will repair the first in timely fashion!

You're killing me (SALSF - Slobbering Seaboard Air Line Fan)...I NEED PHOTOS PLEASE (or better yet, a video)

If I didn't have so many other things going on (and more spare $$$) I'd get both the RS11 and C-420 in SAL paint.

Just wanted to add, I have a Legacy GP9 in Wabash colors and it runs and sounds great.  Very smooth running engine with excellent slow-speed, runs great using DCS as well.

John,

Here's what is says in the manual (73-7147-250 6/13):

Note that on LEGACY/TMCC2 locomotives, L, M and H settings change the number of individual speed steps your locomotive supports. A setting of L gives 32 speed steps, M yields 100 speed steps and H provides 100 speed steps with added momentum.

When using DCS the handheld shows you can select 32 or 128 (I think we had this conversation a while back on these DCS speed steps).

All I know is they are selectable and I can tell the difference in the speed increments of the engine.
