HI Everyone,

I am having problems with the above engine. I have lost marker lights and cab light plus engine originally would not move.

A pal of mine has done are-set on a full DCS system.

If I move the tether the engine will burst into life and run for while, then stalls but will restart if I repeat the process.

Lights still not on but concentrating on the tether issue for now.

It is a 10 pin plug set up. I have a number of spares. Will any 10 pin work or is there a specific part number please?

I have yet to take the tender shell off and thought I would ask first.

I am in England - so don't suggest a trip to the train shop - the only MTH dealer we have is up for sale - LOL!!

Thanks as always.

MIKE

John, This is not correct.  The BC-1000002 Universal harness is not a good fit.  In this case his engine uses a MUX board I believe.

All production 3V used a BC-0000217 external tender harness.  So that is the correct part.  G

Thanks MIKE

Mike I have one, but you also need to check the pcb on the engine.  The solder joints where the pins connect to the PCB can be cracked.

What I do is take off both shells and plug the tether into the engine on a work bench.  I then use a VM to check continuity through the harness.  If I place the probe on the pin and have good conductivity, but place it on the wire pad and have none, I know the solder joint is cracked.

The engine light issue could be a MUX board problem in the engine.  But best to know the harness/pcb is good first.

You can contact me via my E-mail.  G
