When Scott Mann of Sunset Brass / 3rd Rail announced that he was adding the New York Central (actually 2 Metro-North owned)

FL9s to the release of the FL9s later this year I decided that since I was there at the Peekskill Train Station that day 1999 for the

150th anniversary of the Hudson Line I would like to own a pair of them. They are # 2012 & 2013. When I asked my dealer to order them for me he inquired for me with Scott Mann and he told my train dealer that only 10 in 3 rail and 10 in 2 rail were going to be made. He ordered two for me and all of the other 8 in 3 rail as well. That day in 1999 one of my friends who is an engineer for Metro-North was selected to operate the train with the two New York Central painted FL9s north from Peekskill. One of these engines is at the Danbury Railroad Museum in Conneticut.

This is an update to the above post. A few hours after I posted it I asked my train dealer "did you really order all 10 of the 3 rail New York Central FL9s", he said "I ordered 6 of the FL9s". This total is for the 3 confirmed orders, 2 for me and the other 4 for two other customers. I was at first surprised that only 10 of each were being produced in 2 and 3 rail and thought that since the paint masking for this model would exist more could be produced if the demand was there but he was told that most likely no more would be produced so it looks that myself and a few other people will be owning the New York Central model.

Last month it was announced that 3rd Rail will be coming out with the FP7 model next year. I would like to get the Union Pacific model. We will see what next year is like.
