3rd. Rail once offered models of the U.P. CA-1 caboose, in four variations.  Red, yellow, with side door, without

side door. I was just interested in the side door versions, but wondered if the color differences had any significance?  Lines run on, purposes?  As a side thought, the ATSF, with brass models offered by Hallmark, had

several versions of drover cabooses....did the U.P. have any.  I have not seen photos of any, although I have

seen drover caboose photos of such obscure roads as the Denver and Salt Lake.

UP cabooses where "red" until the mid to late 1940s, at which time UP began changing over to the "yellow" with red lettering (still with the 4 digit car numbers).

So, it depends on what time frame, or era, you are modeling.

For what it's worth, MTH has produced an EXCELLENT model of the UP CA-1 wood caboose, and they offered/offer them in various UP styling & painting schemes.
