3RS Conversion - FM Erie-Built; Pass or Freight?

Mario - Email me.  I'm converting an A-B-A set of Erie Builts to 2 rail.  I have extra parts and may have the Atlas chassis and more. 

The 5500-5005 (5100-5101 for B units) Erie-Builts were freight units. The 4400-4405 were passenger units.

I've been kinda wanting a set of these in PRR. I had the Atlas NYC ones at one time and I think these may have been one of the first 3 rail engines to offer a fixed pilot option. I'll have to dig up the photos.

You may just want to hunt down a set of Atlas EBs. Here's some old shots of a set I had:

 

I set up Kadees on these to pull them together (and because the original coil couplers exploded).

Why not just find the MTH Erie Built's, and change the truck side frames, and do a repaint. Em!! So why was the MTH units in such short supply, they seemed nicely detailed and only lacked the correct side frames, was that there down fall? Personally I wish MTH would re- run them correct the side frames, and give us a few more colour schemes. Or just chop the cab roof, and repaint, how about some Hiawatha's, or UP's.          (cTr...Choose the Right)
