If you crimp male connectors onto the wires, you can then use an RJ11 female in-line coupler to connect and disconnect as needed.
AN RJ11 jack is designed for fine wire, #22 will most certainly be way too large a wire for this connector! The contacts of the RJ11 are very light duty, anything that's going to require #22 wire would be too much current for the contacts.
That being said, why are you using #22 wire for switch controllers?
