455R Lionel oil derrick stopped pumping.

For a while now my 455R oil derricks pumping action has been sporadically stopping. Now it has stopped completely. The unit still has power as the bubbler is bubbling but the pumping action has stopped. Any ideas on what could be wrong with it?

Is your 455R a modern unit? (6-xxxxx catalog #?).

If so, some use a standard 555 timer chip IC to trigger the pump action. I had a version I think from the mid 90's once that had an issue like you describe. I replaced the 8 pin 555 timer IC and that fixed it.
