Just attended the o scale convention and had a good time. Show was at an excellent Holiday Inn facility. The trading hall was split in 2 secions but was full of tables with a lot of high end merchandise and there were some outstanding deals. Manny thanks to the SNEMRR (Southern New England MRR Club) for putting on an excellent show. #50 will be at Rockville,MD.

I was there also and had a good time.  There were some good clinics and plenty of O Scale for sale in the trading rooms.  I picked up the remains of the production of the Bob Jones Models Reading T-1 kit ( including some tooling) that Bob produced some years ago from his widow, a very nice lady and also purchased two complete CLW F-3 A unit kits from her.  A few other small parts etc. while walking around.

I attended Jim DeBruin's interesting clinic about pre WWII O Scale and learned some things.  My interest in American made O scale has increased in the past few years thanks to Jim and a few other modelers I have come to know.

My wife Kathy and I rode the Essex Steam Train/Riverboat excursion on Thursday that was arranged by the convention committee.  When we got to the railroad terminal we were given a one hour shop tour by Wayne who has been with the railroad since its beginnings.

The locomotive on our train was the Aberdeen and Rockfish Mikado.  A very small Mike with 50" drivers.  MR did a "Railroad You Can Model" article about the A&R back in the mid 1960s and at that time this loco was "stored serviceable" in their shop.  I never dreamed I would get the chance to ride behind it in 2017!

Although not officially listed as something to do at the Convention, we visited the Connecticut Trolley and Fire Museum that was only 20 minutes from the convention hotel.  They were running a beautifully restored open car and the New Orleans Steel car that was used in the movie "A Streetcar Named Desire".  They have a NYO&W 4 wheel caboose in their museum building and other cars on display.

It was great to see a lot of familiar faces and O scale modeling friends and had plenty of conversations.  Thanks SNEMRR for putting this together!
