4x8 coaol mine layout

hi im looking to build a 4x8 coalmining layout I need to make a corner mountain with a tunnel trough it and on top a mine shaft in it to run my coal jockey any ideas on how I can do it I was thinking of building the the base design out of ply wood then some how sculpt around it with stone portal for the tunnel and wood ties for the mine shaft
