Good evening, all. I started a new adventure. I have wanted a layout for years. The framing is now complete and I am now working on the base and overhead lighting. I am sure that I will be asking for lots of advice in the coming months/years.

Tyler, I moved this to the track plans and layout design forum since it is not a 3-rail scale topic. Please keep the membership updated with the track plan you have chosen and any questions having to do with that.
A lot of potential with that bench work design Tyler. I would suggest that you give some consideration to the walls by at least painting them a sky blue. A backdrop could also be a consideration. In the archives you’ll find a lot of examples with that type of room.

Congratulations! Your photos only provoked one thought in my mind (besides envy!) and that is, if you are intending to use a backdrop, you should do that now and before you go any further. Good luck and I look forward to seeing more photos and videos illustrating your progress!

Thank you all for the kind words! Yes, thank you for the suggestions. I am thinking about painting the walls, as it is easier to do it now.
The track plan is below. I apologize for the small photo. The layout is 12 feet by 46 feet and features two mains (128 and 120 inch diameter curves), a coal mining operation (to the left), a 6-foot curved trestle (front, middle), a roundhouse and 36-inch turntable (to the right), multiple industrial zones, and a main street.

That is one huge trestle and I love the nice broad curves.
Certainly is appropriate to have a Southern passenger consist make the first run across the trestle.

Very well done. I too, like the realistic curves. Is that all Ross track? All fixed radius curves? If so, did you have any problem fitting the plan to your benchwork without any flex track?

Bob, Ross fixed radius curves and switches. Gargraves straight and flex track. I pre-planned the layout on SCARM (? I think that is the name) and built the bench work to accommodate the plan.
