Product number  6-11319 K4 Tuscan Pacific.  Under warranty as it’s new old stock. Out of the box 2 blinks on cab lights.  I don’t hear a smoke fan from either main or auxiliary(whistle) smoke units.  No joy on reset(s).  Fault description sez smoke element problem.  Need advice.  Have a new 8ohm resistor on hand.  Is the resistor generally the problem?  Should I open the shell and check for something simple, or take it in for service?(Don’t ya just hate doing that?)  Hope I have given you enough info.  I guess this should be a no-brainer.

Ted,

Did you do a reset? If not take the engine out of the box and give it one sharp shake. Sometimes the smoke fan will stick. Did you check all the smoke switches? Does the whistle smoke work? Did you try bumping up the smoke level? I am assuming you are using Legacy control. I have two K4s both smoke like crazy.

If no luck there are several forum members who do Legacy/TMCC repairs. I would recommend my friend Alex M, but there are quite a few, Marty Fitshenry and Gun Runner John are also repair experts. I do not know if I spelled Marty's last name correctly.

   Good luck

JohnB
