Pretty darn good for a rattle can! For those unfamiliar with steps needed for optimum finish. Can you describe the steps you take?

Was the gray painted with Rustoleum Spay?

What color/type or Rustoleum spray paint (they have several varieties of sprays)?

Did you use a rubber stamp or stick-on or decals?

Ron, I am using rustoleum spray. They are close but not perfect. For the roof and air tank asssembly  is regal red. The windows, doors and trim pieces arecalmond, and the gray is a lite gray primer/paint combo by rustoleum called winter gray.  Its got a little too much blue in it. Im not happy with it but I dont have an air brush yet so im stuck with rattle can. But its good practice. I think with an air brush I can better reprensentation. 

Its diffucult to find and expensive, to get the spray paints for these. I did a 810 derrick car this winter and the colors were just a little off. Could me eye and/or the changes all these years put on the original paint?

Ron, I forgot to add. I bought the labels on eBay and they were for these particular cars and the 2600 series cars. I just cut the 2 off. They are water slide and look great!!!

fantastic job! the 600 series is a set I'd like to find and redo.

Decals look great. I m using the rubber stamp method. It takes practice and if you make a mistake it can be taken off easily with mineral spirits, then re stamp it again.

I also want to try making decals as you can buy the sheets use in in a jet printer than clear coat the lettering, leave it dry then place it in water and slide the decal off.

Nice results!  Rattle can technology has come a long way in the past few years.  With a bit of practice and good prep, you can do almost as well as you can with an airbrush for most applications.  IMHO, of course!
