Amazing achievement by the A1 Trust. I am curious about the crew though. I didn't see a pilot crew in the cab, so does the driver of Tornado (Steve Hanczar in this case) work on this line as a day job?

Wow! Now the T1 only has to do 140!
OMG!!! Do my eyes see "Hand Stokers"? No automatics? But extremely fascinating even my wife was looking over!
Impressive work. Is the Tornado the "1:1 live steam model" locomotive built from blueprints with some modern construction techniques?

No, it is hand fired, as they didn't have/use "steam driven mechanical stokers" in England.
No automatics?
Steam driven mechanical stokers were NOT "automatic", but controlled by the Fireman.
But extremely fascinating even my wife was looking over!
VERY well done video piece. The drama leading to hitting 100 was pretty gripping. A thought kept reverberating that the USA has at least two steam locomotives that could breeze through 100 mph, given open track (844, 4449, and maybe even 261) ?
And, of course, 611!
True !!
Thanks for posting Brody.. I really enjoyed the video Now go and get your homework done.
It's kinda neat how much smaller the cabs are on UK engines compared to US engines

Where did the term "automatic stoker" come from? I can assure you there is NOTHING "AUTOMATIC" on a steam locomotive!
As Hot Water said, the stoker on a steam locomotive is controlled by the fireman. It does NOT run automatically. In fact, it doesn't do ANYTHING automatically.
Thank you for posting Brody !!

140? I thought the record is 126? But the more, the merrier!
That was great! I wish them luck.
You're right that the record is 126 but there are stories that the T1 hit 140.
Fantastic! Thank you, Brody, for sharing this.

Ya mean there isn't an App for that?....
Great video, thanks for posting it.
I really want to see 8048 and the T1 do the same if not more. English steam always amazes me, how the fireman can have it burning so perfectly that only the exhaust is visible. That night time shot with the fire erupting into the cloud of steam was amazing too. Well done.
I hope you don't mind me talking here's a walk around when it was at our local Museum
here in County Durham England
if it works
