I had this engine when I was 10 back in 1964. I remember it had a plastic front coupler and a metal rear coupler. It seems to be a very difficult engine to find. The 633 made in 1962 was identical but no front coupler. Can the 633 of 1962 accept the plastic front coupler the same as the 634 of 1963? Thanks for any help, Mike.

No, a 633 will not accept a coupler. I still haven't figured Lionel out on that one. They used a 200 series Alco power truck on that switcher only, which has a way too short coupler mount. Why they used a Alco powered truck instead of the usual switcher truck is anyone's guess. I don't see a cost savings as a motive for their decision.
