One of the "buzz topics" from York 2013 was 86' autoparts boxcars from Lionel. I have 2 on pre-order. And I haven't heard one thing about delivery since. Quien sabe?

I also ordered a number of them. I was on the Lionel web site and I saw them shipping in November.............Paul
I ordered three of them -- the Santa Fe pair and the single. Going to need to figure out what to do about shock-control Kadees.
I have quite a few on order....can't wait!! They certainly are going to be a great addition to our layouts..

Lionel showed at York two new 86" box cars. Really nice addition for you freights guys. Kind of like the 21" passenger cars for those of us infected by the passenger train bug. The freight guys have to be very careful because this bug is very contagious.
Is Lionel offering the 8 door version? The train shop handling my order does not have them on their web page.
Next Catalog they will have more, once they get the first round produced and delivered this year.

Rob, yes I did see the 8 door version.
I was watching the Lionel video from the York meet and they were showing an 8 door 86' box car. Does anyone know if they are releasing these with the single door versions or are they going to be in the next catalog. Thanks Paul
I saw it at TrainFest at Lionel's booth. I can't believe how long and big they are. The Santa Fe is beautiful.

You guys are making my mouth water!!....I can't wait to get mine..

I had a scratch built model 86 footer I bought years ago (pre-911) while on a business trip. Showed it to the pre-TSA security and they x-rayed it and found it had a big chunk of ominous looking lead weight in it. Another era, they talked with me about O-guage modeling and sent me on my way WITH my scary looking car. It was GIGANTIC, and makes a 21" passenger car look puny. Mine left, but now I'm tempted again.
So here we are in late January 2015...is there news ???
