The NETCA Division of the TCA had a train meet today in Warwick Rhode Island. A first at this new location - The Knights of Columbus Hall. Very easy loading for vendors with parking right next to the door of the room.

It was nice to see familiar faces including past TCA and NETCA President Joe Fanara.

A gentlemen had an operating layout and the cars on his table made me stop in my tracks. I had never seen these before. My tastes in model trains are eclectic and one area of interest is the unusual. Turns out Ken has expertise in 3-D printers - to the extent that has has printed Marx and other parts for NETCA members that are very hard to find.

What caught my eye was the helium cars, Passenger / interurban? car, and repro line he is developing.

The Helium cars are really quite nice. The detail the new printers can reproduce was impressive and the opening end doors to showcase the bulkheads as well as the tanks themselves looks terrifice.

The "dovetail" look on the interurban car is patterned after a 1911 model (if I have that right). Once again he made all these parts.

Ken also had a nice Lionel Lionchief set running with a notepad to show the ease of running trains with your phone app.

The last product he is developing is those fun little cars we all had. He started with tin and then migrated to a plastic of some type and the results are equally, if not more impressive.

Anyway, it was fun to attend another NETCA show, and the Helium Car that came home with me.

@Railrunnin: I appreciate your kind words Paul. It was very nice talking with you at the show and the Chapter really appreciated your help with setting up! I did a writeup on my 3D printed helium cars (including your USN car) when I built them in the spring, you can check it out here. There's quite a bit of information in that topic but if you really want to learn more, the Amarillo Railroad Museum has some excellent articles and a variety of period photographs to peruse regarding the whole helium transportation system.

@PRR1950 is spot on, that is a 55ft McKeen interurban car with a matching 48ft trailer. Although I've only made the one 55ft McKeen, I was heavily involved in a forum collaboration to design and fabricate a whole batch of 72ft McKeens earlier this year. Here's a link to the build of my personal 72ft McKeen inside the main topic on the design.

I will be setting up my display and command control demonstration again at the October 30th show at the Manchester Elks Lodge. Looking forward to seeing you then!
