A year ago this October, my wife was involved in a horrifiec head on with a semi in Rapid City, SD. It was a long road to recovery involving a lot of rehab, medical equipment, learing how to bandage areas etc.  But thankfully she is almost fully recovered with no brain damage (other than having married me 43years ago! ).

During this hiatus, the layout sat silent and negleted while I concentrated on getting her on her feet and back into her favorite activities.  In June, we moved to a new all-on-one-level home. The layout was Sawzalled into four sections and moved to a larger  downstairs room.  The past two months has been spent rejoining sections, repairing and painting scenery breaks under the track, relaying track, re hooking up wiring (thank goodness for masking tape and magic marker on wires).

And so (drum roll) an engine ran (more or less, mostly less) on the layout tonight,  but hey I'll take it!!

Still alot more to do but its progress, especially since its train show time.

I remember you telling us about your wife's accident when it first happened. Her progress to date is wonderful news and that's what is really important. If you only shared this with us now, this would be reason enough to celebrate. Add to this the good news that your layout is back up and running in new quarters. You indeed have much to be thankful for. Continued success in your lives.
