There has been a lot of angst directed to Lionel lately, rightfully so in many, if not most, cases. As another member pointed out, if we are gonna maintain our licenses to complain, we should also make note of the many good things Lionel (or any other group) does. In my case, it’s the recent release of Legacy F3s. I sold off all of my traditional stuff back in 2012 and converted to scale. I’ve always wanted a set of Legacy Warbonnets, but finding the only previous release (from 2010) was like finding hens teeth. I knew they would come along eventually.
I was excited when they were finally cataloged - especially with the stainless plated finish. I preordered the AA, super bass B, and powered B from Mr Muffins and, as usual, had great service from his store. The problem was that my layout was (and still is) undergoing a complete rip up when they arrived a couple months ago. So, I put them on the shelf and have been staring at them until I finally got a section of my layout back up and running today.
All four units are perfect cosmetically, programmed easily, and functioned perfectly requiring nothing more than the standard lube and oil job. If I had to pick one nit, I’m not nuts about the spacing caused by the different lengths of the electrocouplers relative to the dummy couplers. When I get the time (haha), I’ll swap out the electrocouplers for dummies since I’ll always run it as a group.
I realize these units have been covered in detail on the forum back when they were released. But, for me, getting them running tonight was such a pleasant experience and offered a real positive counterbalance to some of the recent reported troubles. They were definitely worth waiting for and I’m pleased with them completely.
