I happened to be thinking of a sale I went to a few years ago, where this was. I believe, if I recall correctly, it was an MPC era Lionel FA... but I wanted to ask, was this paint scheme custom or something a company (MPC?) actually made?

Apologies for the blurry as heck photo, but it was the best I had from the sale, apparently, and of course now it's several years later! I passed on this loco back then because it's PC so beyond my 1950s modeling time frame and I'd already bought an K Line A-B-A NYC Alco FA set in that sale. But it makes me curious, in hindsight, because I swear I've seen a MPC PC FA (say that five times fast!) before, beyond this example, yet can't seem to find other examples. Which then suggests a custom paint job...

Thanks for chiming  in everyone! I had a vague recollection that this was a repaint, and wanted some conformation. And now I have it! I remember that this FA's nose herald and paint was in a bit tatty condition, quite similar to the actual FA's on the PC, though I doubt that was the original state of the locomotive.

Whoever had the collection was definitely a NYC\PC fan or employee: I purchased some collectors plates from the historical society which were from a employee veterans association, from the Penn Central period, and the pieces I did buy  were NYC\PRR as well (caboose & ALCO FA set from K Line, and a PRR Rotary snowplow).
