Stopping by the Korber Models booth at York, I picked up the Lewis & Sons Manufacturing Company kit.  They were on sale and were just he right size for a project I had in mind.  I wanted to have an abandoned building in the industrial section of the layout.  I painted the sections to my liking.  Going a little heavy around one of the window openings to simulate that there had been a fire in the building.  This window would get boarded up using balsa wood then stained.  I added a hoist that I got from Finished Models and a roof vent from Scenic Express.

One of the windows I broke out a bar and removed the plastic from that area when I applied the plastic sheet to the inside of the window frame.  I randomly scored some of the plastic to simulate cracked glass panes.

After getting the building on the layout, I added some ivy vines to the walls and the surrounding ground cover was given the over grown look.  I also added some over flowing trash cans from Finished Models around the building.  The whole scene turned out pretty well.  At some point, if I can find a figure holding a can of spray paint, I will add that to the scene along with some graffiti to one of the walls.

Looks great.  My only suggestion would to be weather those steps a bit.  Way to white for an abandoned building especially if there was a fire...but that's just my opinion.

The steps are a little bit more gritty looking than in the photo.  But your comment got me thinking and I might go back and add some scenery debris on the steps.  Thanks for giving me the idea.  Much appreciated.
