AC motor on a DC e-unit

-Power both field leads with the DC output leads of a 6-10 amp full wave bridge rectifier.
-One AC rectifier lead to one armature brush.
-The other AC rectifier lead to one E103 e-unit motor lead.
-The other E103 e-unit motor lead to the remaining brush connection.

Before using the electronic unit, try this with a DC HO or G power pack that has a reverse switch in place of the e-unit motor leads to see how this works, and check the current draw with an ammeter, so you can get a good indication of just how much amperage this scheme draws and to assess the performance.  My guess is, that while it all works, you may not be impressed with amount of current or the decrease in performance.

Rob this is great info, but if you could draw a quick diagram that would also be a very valuable reference!

Working on a diagram.

Attached is the diagram for having a universal AC motor respond to DC polarity like a can motor. 

It's a pretty crude drawing, but I believe this circuit is what Rob described - it includes the E-103 (DC) reversing unit being used to drive an AC motor. Hint: ARMTRBRUSHES = armature motor brushes
