All I have started on a layout for my son, It is just going to be conventional controlled for now. I have enough space for it to be 5 ft. X 11 Ft along the back wall and 8 ft. X 5 ft. along the side wall in an "L" shape. Please look at the picture of what I have planned. I am using Lionel fast-track. 036 & O48 curves. Will I run into overhang issues with two trains running parallel to each other? I have steam engines MTH Rail King 4-8-4's and Lionel's all will work on 036 track but I don't want them to hit each other.

Any Suggestions or Advice?

Thanks

Angelo

The track you are using is engineered to work without having to worry about overhang. As long as you set up the curves concentrically, using the same spacing through the curve, you will not have any problems with your layout.

Your only problem would be if you started running the long passenger cars and extra long freight. The cars over 20 inches. But there is no reason you would consider that on the size curves you are using.

Also remember that because of your L shape, the one bend on the 48's will be a 36, so you wont run big stuff anyway.

Good luck and enjoy.
