We all know 1/43 pickups are cheap and easy to get. But how many can you put on a layout before they become overwhelming? Well... with a Dremel tool and a 3d printer I guess I can fix that!
First, I used a cutting wheel to remove the bed on a red Texaco Truck. Then I mocked up Jerr-Dan Rollback bed and printed it on my 3d printer. But that just was too modern a bed for an older truck so I went back and designed a roll on bed. It turned out better than I could have hoped! After painting it and mounting it on the elongated frame, I think it turned out great! Is anyone else interested in doing this? I have the design and a 3d printer to make you a bed if you want. (as a bonus I have some highway barriers I printed out in the background)
Just for showing off, I included a few of the trucks I was aging before coming up with this idea!
A nice BEFORE and AFTER.... (I didn't do the Lionel truck in the background, thats from Menards)
