Altoona Model Works Power Station

I am working one now. I plan on making a central steam heating plant for local industry. Here's a shot of it in my shop and a shot of the roughed in space for it on the layout:

Norm what color are you using for your brick base color?  

Lighting the original version was a real adventure. Bob Spaulding says he is making a lighting kit for the power station.

That is a great looking power plant building. I would love to build one and add tanks and piping to the mix. Norm, it looks like your model is shaping up nicely.

I am waiting on the boilers and lighting kit from Mr. Spaulding. I still have much to do on this building, as it's still pretty rough. I plan on having a hopper/chute under the track for coal delivery.

David, I just use whatever primer is laying around my shop at the time for brick coloring. My trick lately is to put a coat or two of flat clear over it before doing the mortar so I don't smear the brick color around. I  just use lightweight spackle for the mortar.

Here is mine.  I like Bob's kits.  They go together very well.
