Amazing 3 Rail Layout

That's a layout.

That is not a layout, it is a RAILROAD!!  WOW!!

Wow! That's going to be something amazing! I like the use of steel framework.

I wonder what the sound transference is from the wood to the steel?

Where is this located?  I ran through the many photos but saw no mention of its location.

 

They have a fair amount of vignetts and scenery done in the later pics..

   Very serious layout, thanks for posting the pictures!  Love the welding of the metal trestles frame work, sense I am a (PWE) Professional Welding Engineer, this layout is big time to me.

Great stuff simply fantastic, and I love the pictures of the older guys and the young boys working together around the layout.

Layout is being built in Tarpon Springs FL.  The layout is just being built in the Quonset hut. It will reside somewhere else. This may explain the metal rod construction. Something this large will have to be stable when moved. I agree it's impressive. Someone sent me a link a while back. Fox News in Tampa did a segment that ran about 10 minutes with some action shots and an interview.

Holy Mackerel! That is just incredible. And what a space! The bench work is every bit as impressive as everything else. That might be the thing that impressed me the most, but there were so many? From the channels, bridges and locks, it sure looks like they are going to have rivers with running water? I doubt you could get any better than this hiring an entire professional crew?   

 

Looks like that was a lifetime in the planning and another lifetime to complete. They have really made some progress though, that's impressive too. Also the equipment they had to build it all with. I have never seen the spray on foam insulation used on a layout, or steel bench work, or a whole bunch of other things they were doing there. Some extremely talented folks there. They are very fortunate to have the talent, imagination, skills and resources to accomplish something like this.
