Yesterday around noon I ordered a bunch of parts from Digikey in Minesota. I got notified that the order was shipped at about suppertime via Fedex, routed through their main sorting center in Tulsa. The parts arrived on my doorstep this morning at about 10.30 AM. That’s less than 24 hours from order, and trans-border to Canada yet! It doesn't get much better than that. And their shipping cost was a nominal $8.00 including customs clearance etc. No extra charges. Well worth the cost, and it's free if your order is over $100.

I used to purchase from Arrow, Newark, Hamilton Avnet, etc.  Nowadays, I go to Digikey, then Mouser, and if neither of them have the items, I consider the other distributors.   I've had some luck with off-shore places like AliExpress for some parts that nobody in the states have.  Of course now it's choppy waters for many components, I had to scramble around to find the parts for my most recent lighting module order.  It seems even the Chinese assembly houses order from Digikey and Mouser.

I am surprised that FedEx did not hold your shipment hostage.  UPS and FedEx are well known  up here for holding your shipment until you pay their exorbitant “brokerage” fees when shipping from the US to Canada.  My last order was $97.28USD and UPS wanted $53.06CDN before they would release my package to me for “brokerage” fees.  These fees are not charged when shipping via USPS and Canada Post, so I no longer buy from a US based company unless they will ship USPS.

That's really fast Rod! I'm a lot closer to Tulsa than you are and 2 days is usually the norm here.

Digikey is my 1st choice for electronic parts also, they have great parts, service and very reasonable shipping. GRJ pointed me to Digikey several years ago for something and I've been using them since then.

Tom, I usually figure 2-3 days from order, but DK blew me away this time around! I think the secret is get your order in by noon, and if they fill it the same day, it should be overnight. I was surprised to see the notification at 6:43 PM that it had been shipped the same day, because the website has a warning that due to high volumes order processing may take 2-3 days. Now I am just waiting for the boards which will be the best part of a month from OSHPark, like always. Hohum.

I have had that problem in the past, but never with Digikey. They are obviously a high volume shipper with FedEx and must have a preferred arrangement with them, and never any extra charges. The only lengthy delivery I have had with them was earlier this year when Tulsa was snowbound, and they said that literally hundred of orders were tied up there. No accounting for mother nature.

For another recent 100 lot order of observation car led boards from JLCPCB, they show expected shipping within 5-6 days after fabrication, so we shall see.

Recently OSHPark has been turning around my stuff much quicker, typically less than two weeks from order to them shipping it.  Now that the USPS has returned somewhat to sanity, it's about two weeks total for most of my orders.  Here's a typical order, 12 days.

John you folks south of the 49th parrallel don't have the delay of the handoff from USPS to Canada Post. That seems to add about two weeks somehow. I took a look at several orders back to late last year. Typical delivery times were from 24 to 27 days ARO. One was 35 days back in February, due to weather I suppose.

When we are in Arizona OP orders arrive within two weeks like you have seen. Oh well, nothing much you can do about it I guess.
