Seems like before there was Ameri-Towne there was Buildings Unlimited. I picked up these two Cape Cod houses with garages from a local hobby shop in Mineola, Long Island many years ago. $14.98 got you the house with dormers front and back to add as you choose and a matching garage. One yellow, one blue still waiting in a box for a spot on a layout. I wonder whatever became of the molds?

Pierre you nailed the hobby shop. Working in Mineola and East Meadow I could hit Willis at lunch. There used to be another train shop on Jericho Turnpike around the corner from Willis.
Maybe we did rub elbows at Saint Vincent DePaul. Imagine a couple of kids from the city with enough disposable income to frequent train shows. I remember when I first discovered the St. Vincent DePaul train show. It was well worth the trip from Massapequa to Elmont. The gym was full, was full of vendors as were the hallways and the cafeteria downstairs. I went to every one for about 5 years then missed a few and when I went back it was a shell of what it had been. I remember a guy in the cafeteria that had diecast cranes, trucks and construction equipment. He had several painted in the red white and green of Gerosa Haulage and Crane. I would have loved one of those cranes as my Dad worked for another branch of the Gerosa family at Metropolitan Roofing Supply, but I didn't have that much disposable income. I miss those shows.
