Be aware that the 54 inch track that was made by K-Line is gauged slightly narrower than good old USA-made Gilbert track. The trains will run on it just fine, but where there is a transition from Gilbert track to K-Line, the flanges on the wheels will bump sideways. You could take a Dremel to the K-Line at the intersection of the K-Line and Gilbert track to smooth out the transition.
