Has anyone a source for replacement blade/brushes for the 3020 AF Electric O Gauge Train? Mine are attached to metal (perhaps brass) at a right angle. They remind me of the Brushes used in an early HO Engine I once owned. I certainly have Carbon Brushes and the original worn out metal finger. I am unsure how to attach the brush at a right angle. The orig seems to be soldered but I have had no success with electronics solder. Could these be attached with 'silver solder'? Any suggestions of a type of 'flux" that might help facilitate the attachment? As always, thanks to the Forum for any of your suggestions.

There are a couple of options here. If you have a later junker Flyer engine with the tube brushes, you can swap the bracket that has the tube brushes and go that route. That is the easiest method.
Otherwise, I have had some luck with removing the old brush from the metal tab, making sure to leave the round hole in the tab that holds the brush in place, filing a new brush down so that the end fits into the hole and then using super glue to hold the brush in place, making sure not to completely cover the brush in super glue (ie making sure that you still have an electrical contact), and trimming the length of the brush, as the modern brushes are a bit too long for the tabs that hold it against the armature.

You can solder new brushes on the finger, but there is a 50% they will shatter form the heat. NWLs idea is better IMO.
Wonder how AF accomplished this without shattering them?
Thanks for your reply.

The original brushes were not soldered in, they were pressed in. The original brushes appear to be strands of copper that were formed into a larger round brush. The modern replacement brushes are carbon.
Good to know, Thank You for your time!
