Does anyone know of a chart giving the amps drawn by post war 027 and 0 gauge locomotives pulling average loads of say a tender and 5 cars.  I am designing a hopefully fool proof layout protection, auto reset module as so many transformer circuit breaker are shot, stuck closed and a small  auto reset module would be easier to use than replacing the transformer circuit breaker.

I could calculate the current load but I thought maybe someone already has.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Jim-

Most guides I've seen express power draw in watts, but you can determine amperage by dividing by the voltage you run your trains at.

Single motor locomotive - 30 watts

Double motor locomotive - 60 watts

Smoke Unit - 10 watts

Whistle Unit - 5 watts

Accessories - up to 25 watts

18v Bulbs - 5 watts per bulb

12v Bulb - 3 watts per bulb

In most cases a 6-10 amp fast-break breaker or resettable fuse will work well for most applications.

I'm a bit worried that you mention your transformer circuit breakers are worn. Since the breaker (especially on postwar transformers) is designed to protect the transformer (in addition to your trains), I would recommend having these units serviced ASAP.
