I have 4 seperate loops each with their own transformer & each with there own power master, all of the power master u post are connected together, they have been this way for allmost 5 years without any problems, does this mean that all my transformers are in phase? I just wanted to know without haveing to check each one.

As the man said, it only becomes an issue when you are using signaling or transferring trains from one loop to another. It won't take a lot of labor or time to check.

Set all 4 power supplies at roughly the same voltage, using your digital voltmeter to get the correct readings.

Take the two leads of the voltmeter, set on the 0-200 scale, and touch the leads, at the same time, to the center rails of any two of your loops. You should see a minimum (less than a volt or two) reading.

If you see twice the supply voltage, then those two tracks are not in phase.

Do this test between all 6 of these combinations of tracks:

1 - 2

1 - 3

1 - 4

2 - 3

2 - 4

3 - 4
