Another Q re: K-line smoking cabeese

 The diodes will drop 1.4 or so each half cycle...if I have it imaged correctly. Draw and post the circuit?

I don''t know anything about the circuit.  I recommend that you do not run the smoke units in K-Line cabooses.  I have experienced caboose tops melting when the smoke unit is run on command control layouts.  I have never had any problems with the lights on any of my K-Line cabooses.

Are LEDs being used in the marker lights? Could the 4 diodes possibly be configured as a bridge rectifier to supply DC to LEDs? As cjack says above, a wiring diagram would help someone to give you the exact usage. 

Yes, the diode drop is used to supply ~ 1.5V to the marker lamps (not LEDs).

The arrangement is described in the Streamlighting patent

The same arrangement was used for observation cars with marker lights.

Martin:  Been there; done that!  Now I put a diode upstream if the resistor,  which reduces the power by ~ 50%.
