Any golfers or models of golf courses?

Years ago the was a driving range next to the freeway, I think between LA & Van Nuys. It was literally in the gully between the freeway and the mountain. There were distance signs on the side of the hill so if the ball hit there it would be like 200 yards. People just hit the ball into the hill and they would roll down, making picking them up easy. That might make for a space-challenged scene.

I agree a driving range could be a very nice to have on train layout. Driving ranges commonly have high fences or netting 250 plus yards away.  HO or O scale golfers on the tees at the driving range with yardage markers and a high fence or netting to keep the golf balls from hitting a train or cars could be fun to model.  Arnold

The small Lionel Mini Golf accessory may be too diminutive to fit your description, but I installed one on my layout. It's a clever accessory, but the movement of the figures on the mini golf course barely move when "activated" by a push button.  The golf ball as a sign/logo for the course does spin around.  I was disappointed by the lack of noticeable movement of the golfers, so I removed it and replaced it with another Lionel accessory with more visible action - the POSTMAN chased by dogs.

If the duffers at Lionel ever create another golf-related accessory, a golf driving range would be an obvious choice, perhaps with compressed air nozzles to send the ball aloft and toward a catching screen.
